Rough ideas

Also what about this sort of patterning for boarders and edges? I've been playing around with layering typography and then cutting and colouring it to look like embroidery.

quelles couleurs?

I really feel like we need to decide on some colours and then just roll with them. I don't feel like I can really do much until I know what colours I'm using. I've put these together, what do you think? If you makes some adjustments to this then hopefully we can settle.

and some more

portobello road

here are a few sneaky pics from the market

I really love this guy's work. He's called Siggi Eggertsson. It's quite folky and the colours are goregeous - not too OTT!
I love the idea of these very busy, colourful patterns contained within circular shapes ....  this one's called 'colorful dream'.

i wish i could buy this book for you,

Matthew Williamson

i just found this beautiful MW SS09 collection on vogue, you might have already seen it

this green dress is a simple lovely shape (something Egyptian about it almost) , but i like the way the embroidery design is concentrated down the front
its a lot about print, but i really like the small bits of embroidery, maybe we can source bits like them at markets? but it would be ace to design our own bits of embroidery and somehow produce them

Getting there .........?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!

I've been trying to work out some colours by refining down the images that we've been collecting. I think it's getting there.......

typography patterns

Repeat patterns made from typography. They could make really good folky embroidery/print patterns......

This one looks especially folky - something to do with the diamond shape and the reflections I think.

Folking gorgeous

neckline detail, ceremonial dress ....

spinning them yarns - narrative textiles

Czech lace - traditional lace with colour and narrative stitching

contemporary story telling fabrics - quilted and embroidered
